Steps to Measure Your Nail Bed’s Widest Size (Using a Tape Measure)

1. Place the tape measure on your nail bed
Lay the flexible measuring tape gently against the surface of your nail, making sure it covers the widest area of your nail bed (usually the middle part of the nail).

2. Locate the widest points
Use a finger or tool to find the two outermost edges of your nail bed. Mark these points on the measuring tape (as shown by the dotted lines in the image).

3. Read and record the size
Once the tape is securely fitted to your nail, check the measurement between the two marked points. This number is the widest size of your nail bed.

Steps to Measure Your Nail Bed’s Widest Size (Using Paper)

1. Place paper against your nail bed
Press a small piece of paper (or sticky note) gently onto the surface of your nail, making sure it follows the curve of your nail bed.

2. Mark the widest points of your nail bed
Use a fine-tipped pen to mark the outermost edges of your nail bed’s widest section (the positions shown by the black lines in the image).

3. Measure the distance between the marks
Remove the paper, then use a ruler to measure the space between the two marked points. This number is the widest size of your nail bed.

Consider sizing up if you are between two sizes or have flatter nail beds.
